Land Rover has reigned supreme as the UK's favourite 4x4 maker in an online poll by MSN Cars.
Nearly 40,000 people cast their vote in the August poll, which posed the question: 'Which firm makes the best '4x4' type cars?'
The British firm, which is known for models such as Freelander, Discovery and Defender, blew the competition out of the water; commanding a massive 54 per cent share of the user vote.
For over 60 years the firm has been a popular choice for off-roaders, those undertaking 4x4 hire and even with families. LandRover.com puts its successes down to the vehicles' "extraordinary ability and unrivalled strength and durability." It even claims that two-thirds of all Land Rovers are still at work today.
iAfrica.com reports that another 12 manufacturers featured in the list; including Jeep, Subaru and Mitsubishi. Other high-end brand names like Porsche, BMW and Mercedes-Benz were also present.
Toyota placed second, but with a paltry nine per cent, followed by Audi (eight per cent) and BMW (six per cent); proving that Land Rover is miles ahead of the competition.
Colin Green, managing director of Land Rover UK, says that the company is "thrilled" by the MSN users' choice.
"We know that Land Rover has some of the best brand loyalty figures in the industry and this poll is testament to that," he exclaimed.
"Taking over half the votes is a great achievement and goes to prove that Land Rover really does make the world's most authentic 4x4s. Thank you to everyone who voted for us!"
