Lufthansa completes first London to Frankfurt run

Lufthansa has flown the first of its twice-daily voyages to Frankfurt from Gatwick, in a route that is widely anticipated to be a hit with business travellers.

From Frankfurt, the whole world is potentially open to corporate passengers, say Gatwick bosses. A further 84 countries are accessible from what is commonly described as the financial centre of Europe, including the Argentinian capital of Buenos Aires.

The route should provide lasting appeal for executives all across England. Already serving more than 200 destinations and with comprehensive options for prestige car hire, Gatwick is quickly emerging as the definitive airport for business travel, says its commercial director, Guy Stephenson.

Speaking of the route on Breaking Travel News, he said: "It helps make Gatwick one of the most globally connected airports in the world and gives passengers the largest choice of destinations to fly to."

However the new Gatwick to Frankfurt route isn't just good news for the business traveller, Stephenson elaborated: "It will also benefit the leisure passenger who will be able to plug into Lufthansa's global network and visit destinations such as Mumbai and Johannesburg."

Using a Boeing 737-500 aircraft capable of carrying 120 passengers, flights depart from Gatwick daily at 0950 and 1740, arriving into Frankfurt at 1225 and 2015. The return leg leaves Frankfurt at 0845 and 1625, GatwickAirport.com revealed.
