Brits have happiest holidays in Brighton
Britons are happiest holidaying at home when in Brighton, a new survey claims.
The coastal beach destination scored a massive 9.33 out of 10 on a happiness rating in a SkyScanner survey. The travel comparison service found that it beat off rival cities Manchester and Edinburgh to the top slot; even holding off London, which came in fifth position.
According to MarketWatch, Brighton's score also challenges the ranking of several international destinations too. In a similar survey, Britons said that Australia was their happiest holiday country to visit, with a rating of 9.7 out of 10. Italy came second, with a score of 9.2.
Brighton easily saw off Canada, Hungary, Malta and Thailand; all of which had joint ratings of nine out of 10.
Fortunately, if families are looking to visit Brighton from outside of the UK, they will find that they can get all their holiday resources from the moment they arrive.
There are many ways of travelling to the seaside resort, from the continental ferry services running to nearby destinations, to travelling by car from nearby airports.
Plus, it's nearby to many attractive destinations. As well as being one of the main ports into the UK and offering family-friendly services like minibus hire, Portsmouth is less than a two-hour drive away from Brighton. Southampton airport meanwhile, is also within driving distance and there are also decent rail links from London to the seaside city.
VisitBrighton says that when holidaying in the city, tourists absolutely must take a tour of the Royal Pavilions, the "incredible seaside palace of the Prince Regent (George IV), transformed by John Nash into one of the most dazzling and exotic buildings in the British Isles."
The beach of course is another top draw, featuring in Enjoy England's Top 10 beach destinations, it says.
