Women win the parking war
The debate about which sex is better at parking could soon be over, as a new study firmly awards a victory into the hands of women.
Even though women take longer to park, the study found that women are much better than their counterparts at both finding a space, and positioning the vehicle best inside it.
The research even took scores of the quality of parking, says the Mail Online. With women scoring an average of 13.4 out of 20, and men just 12.3, it suggests that it might be best to let women do the driving - no matter what the vehicle.
The result, while controversial, will no doubt cause a ruckus about who gets to drive the luxury people carrier hire car this summer; a popular choice of motor for travelling families.
Getting down to specifics finds that men are generally too fast in their approach to driving, often missing spaces when they become available in multi-storey car parks, for example.
They're often lazier too, choosing to drive in forwards (28 per cent) more frequently than women (39 per cent), and not adjusting their mirrors as regularly as they should.
Test designer Neil Beeson, who appeared in the ITV documentary Last Chance Driving School, told The Scotsman that he didn't expect the results to favour women.
"I was quite surprised by the results because, in my experience, men have always been the best learners and usually performed better in lessons," he said.
"However, it's possible that women retain the information better. The report shows that men need to give our partners more respect when it comes to parking. The facts don't lie!"
