Temperatures to hit 30C this week, say Met Office
High temperatures are here to stay for the next week, say forecasters - just in time for the summer holidays.
In what has already been a typically mixed affair, summer in the UK should now start in earnest, according to the Mail Online.
The south coast is set to receive the best of the sun, making it a great time for families to invest in minibus hire. Portsmouth, the Witterings and Southampton should all bask in the sunshine this week, say the Met Office.
"Everyone should get some sun this weekend and it will be really fine weather on Saturday," confirmed Met Office forecaster Dave Britton.
"It will be sunny spells rather than constant sunshine, but it is a definite improvement on what we have seen the past few weeks," he said.
Many 'staycationers' will be enjoying temperatures of 30C throughout the week; banishing all memories of the showers that dampened the Glastonbury Festival and Wimbledon events.
However, Britton added that a cold front will be moving slowly eastwards into next week. This could bring temperatures in the mid-20s, with a chance of showers once again.
Still, this shouldn't blight the will of Brits determined to get away. According to the Office for National Statistics, the number of people spending their holidays in the UK is set to be at its highest level for 50 years.
2006 saw a record high of 69.6 million overseas trips, compared to just 55.6 million last year. For those that are going abroad this summer, France and Spain remain the most popular destinations for UK travellers.
