Continental Van Hire

When hiring a vehicle to travel to the Continent, there are a number of additional factors to consider. Additional charges will apply for Continental travel and we will be happy to provide you with a detailed quotation on request.

Insurance

We will organise comprehensive insurance cover for the vehicle you require, a Green Card, Letter of Authority and Breakdown Cover. In addition we will provide a Continental Breakdown Emergency Kit.

Age limits for the continental use of Cars and Commercials are normally 25 to 75 and People Carriers, Minibuses & 7.5 tonne vans, 30 to 70. There is a minimum £500 deposit excess on all vehicles. A minimum of 5 years driving experience and an unendorsed UK full driving licence is preferred. Certain endorsements may be accepted.

Vehicles

We will ensure you are supplied with the newest vehicle we have available. Apart from our normal pre-rental checking procedures, vehicles going on the Continent are fully inspected by one of our trained technicians to ensure you have a trouble free journey there and back.

Legal Requirements

To comply with current European Law, vehicles with over 9 seats and 3.5 tonnes gross vehicle weight require a tachograph to be used. Some vehicles will require the new driver digital cards which have to be applied for at least 3 weeks in advance. Please contact us to clarify your precise requirement so we can advise you correctly.

Please note that Southern Ireland is considered outside the UK.
